Bortolo Marolla

Bortolo Marolla was born in Marola di Chiuppano, northern Italy, near the Palladian centers of Verona, Vicenza, and Venice, where, like a good wine, music and song, art is a fundamental part of everyday life. For him, art has been a life-long journey of exploration that began when he won all three top prizes in a national art competition while still in grade school.

After immigrating to Canada and completing high school, Bortolo went on to study at the Kootenay School of Art and with the American School of Art in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as well as at Douglas College and Kwantlen University College where he received a Fine Arts Diploma.

Bortolo constantly challenges his creativity by working in various media. His fascination with light and compositional elements fills his paintings with the beauty and passion sought after by both collectors and students alike. His work is all about emotion, color, and distilling the evanescent spark of inspiration. He constantly strives to capture that moment and the beauty around him and share his vision with the world.

A member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Bortolo has had many successful exhibitions both in Canada and in his native Italy, where he has developed a large following and received much critical acclaim. His work has appeared in calendars, on magazine covers and is held in corporate and private, collections across Canada, the U.S., Japan, Britain, and Italy.
